There are times when you must stare
into the darkness, sad and lost,
by grief suddenly made aware
that love comes at a dreadful cost,
and now in the long empty night
it seems that all the good has flown
away, and taken all the light
leaving you behind...but not alone,
for there is One sits at your side,
silent 'till you bid Him speak,
with scars He does not try to hide,
for in His wounds are what you seek,
the affirmation of your lot,
the price at which you have been bought.
